I'm particularly satisfied with this design and can visualise it applied to many surfaces (fabric, wallpaper, books, etc..). I've already started a summer-weight men's shirt, using the original colourway (blue on white) and I've received requests for silk scarves in the two darker colourways.
When I started doodling (see drawings below) I named them 'Gothic Moorish' and 'Moroccan-Venetian'. Key influences were the exotic East, the Moorish-Gothic architecture of Venice and Venetian glass windows. Also, since my design inspiration is often jumbled together with my subconscious, I see hot-air balloons and jewels coming across in this design too...whatever that says about me? Perhaps it means I'd like to go up in a balloon wearing lots of jewellery!
